Correcting an ommission

In the post about Craig McNamara’s book Because our Fathers Lied: A Memoir of Truth and Family from Vietnam to Today, I neglected to mention Robert McNamara’s daughter, Marge, named after her mother. I never met her, but I did know her husband Robert Pastor, who had a distinguished career in foreign policy. They had two children. He was nominated by President Clinton to be Ambassador to Panama, but that appointment was blocked by Sen. Jesse Helms. As his father-in-law became frail in old age, he would tell me how Bob Pastor and Marge were an important part of his life. Pastor died of cancer in 2014.

I now know that Platform has readers and there is a way to update with a correction and an apology.

There is lots of Martha's Vineyard in this. I met Margaret at the home of Jill and Douglas Woolf, a British couple, who were My friends as well as friends of Margaret. They were neighbors on the Vineyard. I recall that her husband was ill but with us for dinner at that time. I know they were selling their Vineyard home, which was sad for everyone. Previously I recall Bob Kiley and I having dinner with Cy Vance and Bob MacNamara at Cy's home on the Vineyard.
